Meet the team

Hey, I'm Joel

The director of Pritty Ghood Advertising. A one man band at the moment, who had an idea and decided to run with it.

About five years ago I started a labour hire business off the back of frustration. We weren't getting great support from the labour hire outfit working for us, the communication was poor, and I just thought there must be something better. A random conversation with a bloke at the pub turned into me going home and writing down a plan. I had a heap of no's, but one yes swung everything. I found four young lads who were keen to work, and the rest was history.

During that time I put a sign up on the main road into town, about 200m up from the speed camera. It said:

“Unlike the speed camera ahead... SNS won't slow your business down.”

That one sign got me two clients, and a bad rep on the local grapevine, with some saying road safety is no joke. That was my crash course in advertising.

Fast forward a few years and I tried my hand as a mortgage broker. In a saturated market it was hard to stand out. I'd place my business cards next to tills without anyone knowing, hoping I'd get a phone call. It worked once. But I did think to myself at the time, I'd pay money to have a sign up here. Unfortunately nothing like that existed.

So Pritty Ghood was only a thought. The idea was formed around bricks and mortar premises offering their advertising space and donating the money to charity, but not many were keen on that. Running a business is expensive, and fair enough, they said they'd like to keep the cash and make a donation if they wanted to. So I thought, let's try that.

I trialled the concept with 30 businesses to get feedback on how we could improve the marketplace into what it is today. No hidden costs, no salesman (just me in the beginning, sorry all), and an idea which I think can help small businesses grow, and make money from too.

I'm a proud dad of three girls, Isla, Rose and Maddison, with a supportive wife who lets me run with these ideas. I have no marketing or advertising experience. I just have an idea that I think could help a lot of people.

Cheers, Joel
