Why clubs list with us

Sponsorship that does not depend on who the treasurer knows

Most clubs find sponsors the same way every year: a few committee members ringing round the businesses they already know. List what you have instead, and the businesses that want to be seen at your club come to you.

  • New sponsors find you

Local businesses browse what your rugby club offers and ask to back you. No more committee members ringing round the same five businesses every pre-season.

  • More money for the juniors

Every grade sponsor and Player of the Day voucher is money that keeps junior fees down, buys new tackle bags and gets the under 13s to the tournament.

  • Closer ties with local business

Every sponsor becomes part of the club: they come down on a Saturday, they get thanked in front of everyone, and the members return the favour by shopping with them.

What you can list

Every grade, every jersey, every Saturday

List each one on its own, by the week, the month or the whole season. You set the price for each.

Junior rugby

  • JAB and Rippa
  • Under 7 to Under 12
  • Under 13
  • Under 15
  • Under 17
  • Player of the Day sponsor

Their name on the certificate every Saturday, and a voucher from their business for the player who earned it.

  • Team sponsor

One business backs one junior team for the season, with their logo on the shirts and a team photo for their wall.

  • Junior tournament or festival

Naming rights to the junior day the whole region turns up to.

Senior grades

  • Colts
  • Under 21
  • Under 85kg
  • Senior B
  • Senior 2nds and 3rds
  • Premier
  • Women's
  • Golden Oldies
  • Grade naming rights

The Premiers, the Colts or the women's team, named after the sponsor for the season.

  • Jersey front, back and sleeves

Sold separately, so a big local business can take the front and a smaller one the sleeve.

  • Shorts, socks and training tops

Smaller places on the kit for smaller budgets, still seen every week.

  • Player sponsor

A business backs one player for the season, named on the team sheet and the club page.

Around the club

  • Ground signage

A fence sign by the try line or the clubrooms deck, not a billboard, just where people stand.

  • Clubrooms and bar

A sign by the bar, the honours boards or the screen everyone watches on a Saturday night.

  • Prizegiving awards

Most Improved, Clubman of the Year or Rookie of the Year, presented by the sponsor.

Look after your sponsors

What a sponsor gets from your club, not just a logo

Add any of these to a listing so a business can see exactly what backing you gets them. Sponsors who feel part of the club are the ones who come back next season.

  • A beer and a meal on Saturday

A seat at the after-match every home game, with a jug and the roast. It is how sponsors get to know the club.

  • Thanked out loud

A shout out in the after-match speeches and at prizegiving, in front of players, parents and supporters.

  • A flag at the entrance

Their teardrop flag at the gate on game day, the first thing every car sees.

  • A sign in the clubrooms

A framed sign in the clubrooms where the after-match happens.

  • Posts on the club's socials

Their logo in the weekly results post and a thank you post when they sign up.

  • Sponsors' evening

Invited to the pre-season sponsors' evening and the jersey reveal, and to present a cap or award at prizegiving.

How it works

It's this easy

  1. 1

    List it

A photo and a price. Free.

  2. 2

    They find you

A local advertiser books your space.

  3. 3

    Advert arrives

It's sent to you or dropped in.

  4. 4

    Put it up

Snap a quick photo so they know it's up.

  5. 5

    You beauty!

All done. The money goes to your bank.

You never design or print a thing. The advert is always supplied to you.

Supporting local

Every booking gives to a charity you choose.

Pick a local cause the club cares about, and every time a business books one of your sponsorships a donation goes to it. It never comes out of the club's pocket, and it is something to tell your members about at prizegiving.

Does it cost the club anything?

No. Listing is free, there is no monthly fee and no lock-in contract. The club is paid the full price it sets.

What should we charge?

Up to you. Real New Zealand club price lists usually run from about $100 to $500 for the small things, $1,000 to $2,500 for team and kit sponsors, and $3,000 and up for naming rights. Start there and adjust.

Do we have to take every sponsor who asks?

No. You see who the business is and what they want before you say yes, and you can decline anyone who does not fit the club.

Who on the committee looks after it?

Usually the sponsorship coordinator or the treasurer. One login, and other committee members can be given access too.

We already have sponsors. Does this replace them?

No. Keep the sponsors you have. List what is still unsold, like the junior teams or the sleeve, and let new businesses find it.
